Wounds occur for various reasons. When we were young and healthy, wounds that occurred from an injury, such a skinned knee or a simple cut or burn in the kitchen, all healed within a few weeks.  One reason a wound might turn into a "chronic" wound is that the brain is trained to believe that a wound should have already healed after a few weeks, so it stops delivering the messages to repair. Advanced treatments, such as stem cell grafts are approved by Medicare and can accelerate the healing of your chronic wound. Bio-scaffolding products can accelerate the healing of venous, arterial, chronic, skin disturbances around ostomies and autoimmune ulcers.

As a person ages, their bodies lose the ability to heal as quickly. Aging is one hurdle, but other diagnoses such as diabetes, obesity, venous insufficiency, arterial insufficiency, lymphedema, or malignancy, will slow down the healing process. A severe illness that leaves one weak and immobile, such as a stroke, joint replacement, COVID-19, or an automobile accident, can lead to complications, often pressure ulcers and infections.

Your wound is given the best possible chance to heal thanks to frequent evaluations and intensive treatments by a qualified wound care professional. You will also get the best treatment possible in the comfort of your own home. Pain medication will be utilized so debridements can be performed with minimal discomfort. Your provider will order home health nurses to perform dressing changes and will coordinate all care with your primary care provider and other specialists that are relative to your wound care. Home health nurses, physical therapists, lymphedema therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, nutritional counselors, and alternative medicine can all be coordinated when under the care of a wound care specialist with Wound Care at Home.

Dermatology

Many rashes and skin maladies can be diagnosed and treated at home.  Often a compound medication may be the answer when regular prescriptions have failed to resolve a skin condition.

Biopsies

When a person is ill or injured, they often do not get routine examinations for cancer screenings.  But, if you are homebound and there is a concern about a new growth or a change is noticed in a pre-existing mole, a biopsy will be taken to determine the diagnosis and to guide therapy.  If your condition can be treated at home, we will make every effort to do so. Many skin conditions can be treated at home.
