Tammy DeWitt APRN, a Certified Wound Care Specialist, with experience in caring for patients in their homes and in the hospital, has now opened her own practice and will accept a limited clientele to ensure personal, thorough care can be provided to each patient. By utilizing your Medicare insurance coverage to provide the most advanced treatments available and coordinating care with home health agencies, you will receive the best care available in your own home.

While the focus is definitely on treating your wound, you will receive care that addresses the whole body. Tammy believes the body and soul are intertwined and your emotional health is just as important to healing as your physical health.  You can expect some "heart to heart" talks, nutritional counseling, and positive self-talk guidance as tools to help you heal.  Additionally, you will likely have referrals for physical therapy and occupational therapy which are important to mobility and healing.

Patients may receive one or two weekly visits from Tammy during their treatment plan. Your home health nurses will be instructed on how to provide wound care in between the practitioner visits.  This is why only a limited number of patients are accepted at a time.  Tammy's healing rate is exemplary but there are situations when a person will require hospitalization, such as when a surgeon needs to perform arterial re-vascularization or a biopsy that reveals skin cancer that is best treated with a Mohs procedure at a dermatologist's office. These are the rare events that are unavoidable.
